Vicky Rivera is a twenty-two year-old certified esthetician with a passion for beauty, cosmetics and personal care. A budding entrepreneur, Rivera has been renting a booth in a salon in Altamonte Springs since March of 2023 and working solo since January of 2022 to save enough money for her and her new husband to purchase their first home.

“My initial spark to this industry started when I was around fourteen and I started getting into makeup. I started to do other girls’ makeup and I realized how happy they got when they felt good. I knew the beauty industry is where I wanted to be”, Rivera said.

Rivera has taken to her passion wonderfully- she has obtained a reliable and clean workspace, conducts her own inventory, business finances and schedule while ensuring that every one of her clients leaves her salon happy with her work. It’s a lot of work, but much more fulfilling than her previous places of employment working in retail at the local mall, and as a dental assistant.

“I decided to leave my dental job because I only saw one client from 6pm-9pm. I was never able to fit in the clients that wanted to be seen and I felt more happy working on my own,” Rivera said.

“I had my friends and family help me with my logo and brainstormed a lot before I chose the one I have and I love it.” said Rivera.

Rivera can set her own rates and offer affordable cosmetic treatments that bring her clients joy, confidence, and convenience to their daily routine. This is only possible, however, if they walk into her salon.

Marketing for a service rather than a product can be challenging, expensive and futile if Rivera’s content cannot reach the audience most valuable to her business. So far, Rivera has invested in business cards for word-of-mouth marketing which boast photos of her work, her contact information, and her social media handles for TikTok and Instagram.

“Regarding social media, I would like to be able to build a beauty empire and be a role model for others. My goal is in a couple of years to have a full running salon with other artists and be able to help others grow and to be able to teach as well!” Rivera said.

Rivera’s social media profiles are great, containing impressive before and after comparisons from real clients, with photographs and videos of her offered services. She is super talented and passionate. Sadly, her following simply isn’t what it should be.

What Rivera has done well is creatively achieved a cute and trendy username: @LashOutByVic, and logo which are used with both of her business accounts. She has chosen to leave her personal pages private.
As of today, Vicky Rivera’s Lash Out page on Instagram has 700 followers, and her TikTok has only 51 active audience members.
